SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals
At Troldtekt, we share the UN’s main premise that we must stand together in order to change the world. Therefore, we are partnering with companies, NGOs and other organisations which, like us, want to contribute to a circular economy within the construction industry.
We have entered into meaningful partnerships on our three domestic markets – Denmark, Germany and Sweden.
Common voice for certified forests
In Denmark, Troldtekt works closely with FSC Danmark to increase the number of FSC-certified forests through various activities.
As a direct result of this joint ‘call’ from FSC Denmark and Troldtekt, the Municipality of Ringkøbing-Skjern in western Jutland decided to FSC-certify all its municipal forests. Troldtekt produces all its acoustic panels in the municipality, and this has made it easier for us to source our raw wood locally.
Trialling new cement type
Our cooperation with Aalborg Portland is another type of partnership in the area of recycling. Together we are working to ensure that production waste and construction waste containing Troldtekt are used in cement production. This has, among other things, resulted in dust from our edging workshop creating value in production.
Most of our carbon emissions come from the production of cement, and we are therefore pleased to be working in close partnership with Aalborg Portland, which has committed to reducing its carbon emissions by 70 per cent by 2050 under an agreement made with the Danish government. The target is a 30 per cent reduction by 2030, which means that we – as a partner – have the chance to follow up on progress along the way.
Troldtekt has entered into an agreement with Aalborg Portland to run trials of a new type of cement with a reduced carbon footprint – FUTURECEMTM. The promising new type of cement results in a 30 per cent reduction in emissions compared to ordinary cement.
Joining forces for Cradle to Cradle
In Germany, we cooperate with, among others, the German Cradle to Cradle NGO, which works to promote the circular economy and the Cradle to Cradle design concept in Germany.
Cradle to Cradle NGO has a circle of partner companies, of which Troldtekt has been an active member since 2018. As a partner, we provide financial support for the NGO’s efforts to promote Cradle to Cradle, and we also attend presentations and events where we share our experiences with the circular economy.
Moreover, we have contributed Troldtekt acoustic panels to the newly opened C2C LAB in Berlin, which is an educational centre, NGO office and ‘living laboratory’ for Cradle to Cradle-certified building materials.
In Sweden, too, strong forces are working to promote the circular economy, and here Troldtekt is a member of, for example, Cradlenet. The NGO offers inspiration and knowledge sharing between companies, organisations and people.
Troldtekt supports sustainable building
In addition to the above-mentioned partnerships, Troldtekt is a member of the leading organisations in the field of sustainable building in Denmark, Sweden and Germany:
-
In Germany, the organisation is called DGNB – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen. Launched in 2008, the DGNB certification system ensures sustainability at the social, economic and environmental level – during the construction process and in the finished building.
-
In Denmark, we are a member of the independent council for sustainable building, Green Building Council Denmark. The council has decided to follow DGNB, which is therefore the most widely used sustainable certification system in the Danish construction industry.
-
Sweden Green Building Council manages and supports a number of the most widely used certification schemes within sustainable building in Sweden. Two of them are Miljöbyggnad and BREEAM-SE.
